Lucky number, that is.
I’ve always been partial to 19. I’m not exactly sure why this number in particular, or even when my crush began. But if I end up being the 19th person in line, or leaving the 19th comment on a blog post, or receiving 19 Hershey kisses, it makes my day. I could even try to claim that the year I was 19 was the best year of my life…
But it wasn’t. That would be exaggerating.
Back when I was in college, I had a good friend named Chris. I think he may have wanted to be an even better friend. He gave me a t-shirt emblazoned with Hey 19, and when that didn’t soften me up he gave me an entire MILE 19 road sign, complete with the post still embedded in cement, and covered with dirt. Lots of dirt. Chris left it outside my dorm room door for me to find the next morning. It was quite a surprise, to say the least, though I had to spend the better part of the morning tracking down the dorm janitor so that I could borrow a vacuum. Poor Chris. His heart was in the right place, even if mine wasn’t.
So while Chris was left, those many years ago, to find true love somewhere else, my fondness for 19 has endured.
And my favorite perfume?
Chanel.
No. 5
Do you have a favorite number, and if so, which one?
I like the numbers 7 and 8. If I get a race bib that has the numbers 7 and 8 in it, I know that I'll have a most excellent race!
ReplyDeleteI had a few friends like Chris in college that wanted to be more than friends...and I just wasn't interested in them in that way. Guess it all works out in the end, doesn't it? :-)
ReplyDeleteFavorite number...hmm. I really don't have one, but I do like number 7. :-)
Thanks both of you! 7 and 8 are excellent numbers too! And this morning, I had 19 new emails! (All junk, but still-19!)
ReplyDeleteLisa-I hope you get lots of 7's and 8's in the future! And Melissa, there were always Chris's weren't there? I was too nice and didn't want to hurt their feelings:)
He dug up a street sign for you? *Young love.* It is a good memory, even if it wasn't mutual.
ReplyDeleteI still feel bad that such a noble gesture on his part was unappreciated by me. Not to mention the fact that he could have been arrested had he been caught in the act of taking the sign. Poor, sweet Chris. I heard through the grapevine that he was eventually diagnosed with schizophrenia and ended up working in a Walmart somewhere.
ReplyDeleteI never really thought about having a lucky number, but if I had to pick one, I'd pick four ... The total of myself, husband, and two daughters :)
ReplyDeleteFour is a great number Joanne! And those 19 Hershey kisses I talked about...I wish:)
ReplyDeleteLucky 13. Day I was born, auspicious in its Prime-ness.
ReplyDeleteAnd yay for No. 5!! I wear it, too!
C-Great number and great reason too! And isn't Chanel No. 5 just delicious!
ReplyDeletePoor, odd Chris:) I don't have a number I'm partial to. Or a colour although I gravitate towards greens and blues. I used to be a big perfume wearer but not these days. I do however to increase the number of kids I have to three. I'm 40 though, so that addition may have to come some creative way.
ReplyDeleteMy sister had a baby at around age 42-the good old fashioned way:) What an exciting thing to consider Kim-I'll keep my fingers crossed for you-and lucky number 3:)
