Happy Spring!

spring

I’m so glad it’s gardening weather!  Today Amy and I worked on extending the size of our garden plot so that we can  grow even more vegetables, and we planted our first batch of  lettuce.  Our rhubarb is getting bigger by the day and it will be ready to harvest in a couple weeks. ( I’ll be posting my recipe for rhubarb crisp soon!)

I finished off the day by planting  pansies in some of my tiny vintage flower pots.  I love how sweet and nostalgic they look, and I also love that spring, with all of its color,  is finally, finally here!

  1. I just adore those flower pots you have there. I always look for small pots and vases on my thrift store escapades. Look forward to some pictures of your garden. And how nice is it that Amy enjoys it too!

Thanks for the lovely comment and as a matter of fact I just poured myself a glass of wine this minute. And you're right, with each sip, turning 40 gets easier:)

  2. Yay for rhubarb. We used to have a great bunch until my husband accidentally mowed it (grrr). I've planted it twice since and it hasn't taken. Maybe this year?!!

  3. Thanks you guys!
Kim-My latest little flowerpot find was only 25 cents or something-the little pink one. I'm always on the lookout too. Hope you enjoyed that glass of wine:)

Lisa-it's taken me years to grow rhubarb. I would get so mad when I'd see it thriving in alleys and other people's yards who hated it-but now I have 3 huge plants of my own. I wonder why it can be so hard to grow?!

  6. What cute pots! I really like the lettuce one.

I went and got some potted pansies this weekend, too, and some shepherd's hooks. I am not much of a gardener, but I do love easy-to-care-for flowers, and potted ones are just the thing! I also bought a gorgeous pot of fuscia. I just LOVE them! They look like little ballerinas!
