My shop, by any other name…

SnapshotSailorBanner1

I have an announcement to make!  After running a shop on Etsy under the name of For the Love of Pete for almost four years, I’ve decided it’s time for a change.  I have a new name!

It was a hard decision.  I don’t warm up to most changes very quickly.  But I’ve always wanted my own website, with my very own web address.  Something I couldn’t do with For the Love of Pete because that domain is taken, and has been for at least 10 years.  Soon, my website, SnapshotSailors.com will be up and running!  I also have some creative endeavors in mind-and they will be easier to do with my new name.  I’ll be showing those off very soon as well!

Honoring my Uncle Pete is still very important to me, and remains my most important shop mission.   Recently though, one of Pete’s photos was used in a way I wasn't too happy about.  The internet can be, as my friend Melissa so aptly put  “a vile place that showcases the underbelly of the world.” And so I feel the need to protect Pete too.

In the next few days,  the Snapshot Sailors and I have some work to do-like designing that web page, and coming up with some new business cards too.  But I can’t wait!

Happy Friday everybody, and have a great weekend!  See you on Monday:)

  3. What a great decision! I like that new name ... Sometimes that's all we have left of the past, is a snapshot. But there's always a story behind those snapshots, a history people want to know. And having the right domain name is so important. I've read where parents actually reserve their child's domain name when they're babies, just in case they'll need them when they grow up!

I just bought business cards, too, for my book. I ordered them online at Staples, they did a great job. I'll be posting about them in a couple weeks. Good luck, Valerie, it sounds like you're having fun with these exciting changes!

  4. Thank you so much Joanne! I love the way you summed up what a snapshot represents-I want that same sentiment to come through in some of my new work:)

I'll check out Staples too-thanks for the tip!

I love all your old pictures. I have some that I have picked up over the years that I want to use in blog posts.

I'm looking forward to what you will come up with.

Cant wait to see what you have planned. My dad gave me some old pictures last weekend. One is of a man he couldnt identify hugging the prettiest brown cow. It is so cute! You would love it.

Oh, and I'm thoroughly disgusted about Pete's picture. People are vile! I'm sorry that happened. :(
