The Romantic

Amy and I were sitting outside yesterday afternoon and happened to see this little sparrow working so hard to attract a mate.  He would sit atop the bird house, which was made to accommodate the smaller nuthatch, and sing his heart out. Then he’d enter the birdhouse, only to have, a few seconds later, one heck of a time wriggling back out.

By late afternoon he’d given up and disappeared.  Probably discouraged-and exhausted too, I’d imagine.

I hope he’ll be luckier in love today.

Happy Monday!  And don’t work too hard.

  2. Dawn-most definitely! I hope he finds the right lady bird today:)

Lisa-exactly! He should be thankful there was no girlfriend around to see him struggle to get himself out of that tiny nuthatch house:)

  4. It's the least I can do Lisa! He was back out there today, all puffed up and fluttering his wings while he sang! He certainly gets an A for effort!

  5. We have such a sweet racket of birds outside, including a family of mockingbirds that keep me entertained. This has def. been one of my favorite things since we moved to a quieter way of life.
