Horse Power!

pony

I’ve been spring cleaning this weekend.  It just seemed like the right time to do it.  Outside, the temperatures are still well below freezing, and on top of that, our valley is trapped under a heavy canopy of freezing fog-and still covered with a blanket of snow and ice.

I figure that once spring arrives,

(A) I will actually be able to see my garden again.

(B) It will be possible to go outside without wearing 27 layers of clothing.

(C) I will not want to do spring cleaning.

The Lone Ranger had Silver.  Roy Rogers had Trigger.  And when I have my own dirt bandits to run out of town, I have a trusty sidekick, too.   My vacuum.  My Royal Pony.  The phrase “They don’t build them like that any more,” was coined with my vacuum in mind. I don’t know how old my Pony is, but I do know that its superior quality justified a complete refurbishing by a previous owner, and in the five or so years I’ve used it, my Pony has yet to let me down. Plus all that chrome and turquoise?  My Pony should be in a parade.

So Saturday, as I was brandishing my Pony’s powerful cleaning wand, I sort of vacuumed up a quarter…

Is twenty-five cents worth braving the bad guys of dust to retrieve?  Or should I simply vacuum off into the sunset, comforted by the knowledge that when it comes to superior suction, my Pony has me covered.

Tell me, dear readers-what would you do?

  2. Way, way, way overdue here too!

I just wish I'd vacuumed up a penny instead. I'll probably leave the quarter where it is-too messy to try to rescue it!

I too have the freezing temps and blanket of crud but today the crud has lifted a bit in my town. Yay!

And ...I have been cleaning, too.

  4. I am sorry I am laughing to hard to think. Wait a minute.......

OK I have central vac so every time I hear a jingling in the hose I want to run down stairs and rip open the bag. I never have.I don't know if this answers your question but my kids Legos as kids were disappearing all the time:) B

  5. I agree with everything you said here, dear Renae! If only those baby hands didn't grow up so fast, too:)

B-I think I'll resist ripping open the bag too! It's too bad I'm such a miser-it's hard to let anything go-money, legos, etc. Thanks so much for your input:)

  6. Your pony reminds me of an ooold (early '40's I think) vacuum my Granny passed on to me. It had metal 'slides' rather than wheels and it worked like a charm!

  7. Hmm. I'm not sure if I'd go diving into the bag or not - I'd say just rejoice in the fact that your vacuum has that much suction power! I need one like your pony. Mine is one of those crappy plastic ones you buy at a big box store. I wouldn't mind an old one likes yours!

  8. It really is true that some of the old stuff is still better quality than the new stuff.

My contractor continues to be impressed with how well built the 40+ year old home we are renovating is.

  9. I don't know any more ..
my 15 yr old son has been intrigued with old money as of late .. got a book at the library on values and went through his penny bank ..
Lo & Behold he has a penny worth 110 in in bad condition!

Loved my old gold electrolux with its power head my floors shined. They don't make them like they used to!
