Autumn Riches

027

Take one ancient maple tree, and multiply by six…

windy

Add a very, very windy day…

Leaves and Shoes

And Mother Nature will lay a carpet of gold at your feet.

A dear friend of mine shared one of her favorite poems with me.  It’s one of my favorites now, too!

"Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns."

George Eliot

Happy Wednesday, my dear readers!

  1. The yellow leaves look so pretty up next to your house! I recently found that poem and it has become one of my favorites as well. It sums up how I feel about autumn!

  3. Tammy, I was all set to rake, and then it started to snow today! Wet leaves are not so fun...

The poem is so lovely, isn't it!

Lisa-We will have dozens and dozens of bags full before we are through. Most will go to the dump, where the city chips them and uses for mulch. The rest, we put on our garden beds. A couple years ago someone stopped by while we were raking and asked if they could have some of our leaves. We said sure, but then this person grabbed a bag that we had just filled with leaves and walked away. We were hoping they would have at least offered to rake up a bag of their own;)

  5. This post is a fall delight, especially for me as we are just beginning to see the colors.

Thank you for sharing these lovely pictures. I can almost smell the chimney smoke from the first fires of the season and see people dressed in warm clothes, instead of the sandals I'm still wearing.

However, the changes are coming. I stood underneath what I think are red maple trees, which grow in our area. It sounded just like it was raining when the wind banged the dry leaves against each other. Most haven't fallen yet and our temperature is still warm:~)
